All Red at NYFW!

My monochromatic red look seemed to be a big hit at fashion week!  I think it was a bit of a fashion risk … A LOT of look to pull off! But hey, if you’re not going to take a risk at fashion week, when will you take a risk, right?

Thanks to Yvonne of Funky Forty for this fab photo!

I actually had people wanting to take pictures with me.  Maybe they thought I was someone else? LOL. But I enjoyed the attention anyway.  And I got a photo on Getty Images, which always makes me feel like a rock star.  Hey, teaching is rewarding but not glamorous … let me enjoy my few minutes in the spotlight, Dolls!

Monochromatic Dressing

Dressing in one color head to toe always makes a statement!  If you’re new to this outfit idea, you might want to start with more of a neutral tone. I love dressing in head to toe gray for example and of course all black is always a classic. Beige is having a big moment right now, so this might be the time to try an all shades of beige look. If you choose a color, it’s a bold look and lots of fun.  I don’t think there’s any reason to worry about shades matching up.  I had more of a tomato red mixed with more of a blue red and it all seemed to work pretty harmoniously.  Or if not harmonious, at least interesting!!

Big thanks to the fabulous Denton Taylor for these photos! Follow him on Instagram for NYC street style all year long!

Fun & Fashion,

Dawn Lucy

About the blog: Fashion Should Be Fun is me talking to you, other middle aged women like me who are over 40, but not over fashion.  We still want to look beautiful and stylish.  We still want to have fun with trends.  And we don’t need anyone giving us rules, because we’re all different. We all have own shapes and bodies, parts we’d like to cover and parts we still don’t mind showing off a bit.  This is a place for me to share my love of fashion with you, style ideas, tips, trends, and inspiration. I know how liking the way we look can translate into confidence and energy. I know we have so much life left to live and so much adventure ahead of us. Let’s show the world you’re never too old to have fun and be fierce.
